Seeded at No.4 in Paris, Jannik Sinner played his last match against World No.3, Daniil Medvedev. The 22-year-old beat Medvedev for the second time in October. Over a thrilling round of three sets, Sinner beat the Russian 7-6, 4-6, 6-3 to claim the title beating Medvedev in the Finals. At the China Open earlier, the Italian had scored his first-ever victory over Medvedev, ousting him to a straight sets defeat in the finals.
American tennis player Mackenzie McDonald, on the other hand, beat his compatriot, J.J. Wolf, in a three-setter to proceed to the third round. Though the 28-year-old performed poorly in the first set, claiming only one game, he made a strong comeback in the subsequent sets. McDonald demolished Wolf with 1-6, 6-4, 6-2 win. At the Japan Open earlier, he lost to fellow American Tommy Paul in his Round of 16 match.

Sinner has been on fire recently. The 22-year-old has claimed titles at both the Vienna Open and at the China Open last month, defeating Russian ace, Daniil Medvedev. He even made the semi-finals of Wimbledon, losing to none other than Novak Djokovic.
Mackenzie McDonald, meanwhile, has not been in his best form. The player crashed out of the Shanghai Masters event after he lost the Round of 64 to Argentine pro, Francisco Cerundolo. At the China Open as well, he lost his Round of 32 match to Grigor Dimitrov. Beating the fourth seed can be quite challenging for the No.42 ranked player.
