Riot Games has officially revealed League of Legends upcoming new game mode, Ultimate Spellbook.

Riot Games usually announce a game mode whenever there’s a new event. However, since last year, there weren’t many new game modes in League of Legends besides One for All, Nexus Blitz, and URF. Therefore, over the last few months, many League of Legends fans have shown their frustrations and expressed how much they miss those unique game modes.

Now, it seems the wait is finally over. League of Legends’ Product Lead on the Modes team, Riot HBBONG has announced that there’s going to be a new game mode in League of Legends. And the upcoming new game mode for 2021 is going to be called Ultimate Spellbook.

Release Date

According to Riot HBBONG, Ultimate Spellbook will be available for extended testing on PBE. And the game mode is going to be released in LoL patch 11.14, July 8, 2021.

Ultimate Spellbook is going to be a regular blind pick game where everyone will be able to play their favorite champions. And according to Riot Games, here are all the details about the upcoming game mode.

Summoner Spell: Ult-ernate

Whatever champion’s ultimate you pick, it will replace the Ultimate Placeholder for the rest of the game and you will not be able to change it.

Riot HBBONG described the Ultimate Placeholder’s spell as “Ult-ernate Summoner Spell”. Players will be able to Ult-ernate Summoner Spell after its initial 135-second cooldown, even before hitting level 6.

Ult-ernate Summoner Spells level up as your Champion’s ultimate levels up to rank 2 and 3 (levels 11 and 16) and benefit from Summoner Spell haste.

  • Ults that only scale with AD now also scale with AP.
  • Ults that only scale with AP now also scale with AD.
  • Ults that only scale with Health now also scale with AD and AP.
  • Ults that scale with nothing continue to scale with nothing.

Drake

Rather than four Elemental Drakes, Ultimate Spellbook has Mordekaiser’s old drake.

  • A drake will spawn every 3 and a half minutes.
  • Stacks grant a buff that makes auto attacks on towers apply a DOT that deals percent health magic damage to towers.
  • The Soul grants the ability to reanimate on death with rapidly decaying Health. This ability has a 5-minute cooldown.
